Shopping in Athens

     Like the most big Capitals , the City of Athens has a huge market, so visitors could find their way of shopping.

     My intention is to give you the most popular shopping areas of Athens and some suggestions of what yOu may buy from there.

     First of all, lets see some market areas in Athens

     1. The downtown area (area no1)
          Which hosts a few large shopping centers and many smaller shops. Visitors can find nearly anything. Mainly this area consisted from smaller places like: Ermou Street,  Monastiraki area,  Thissio Area

  

     The downtown area (around Ermou Street) hosts a few large shopping centers but mainly keeps visitors busy with its quaint shops in the tourist areas and boutiques in certain upper class sections.

2. The North Mall Area (area no2)

     Located on the North of Athens with two basic big Malls

    a.   The Mall Athens
   

    

     The new place to be, in Marousi, in the heart of Attica. Located next to Nerantziotissa train station on the Attiki Odos (access also with metro).      c. AVENUE Shopping Mall

     AVENUE Shopping Mall in Paradeissos, Maroussi, began its operation in May 2007 and was created as an extension of the well-known and successful Sanyo Carrefour shopping center. It is a place of unique architecture, located close to the major companies as well as to populous residential areas. It is located at 41-47 Kifissias avenue, just next to Maroussi Helexpo exhibition center and very near the entrance-exit 11 of the Attica road.

3. The North-East Mall Area  (area no3)

The Shopping hours in Greece are not standard.
Shops open hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are from 09:00 - 15:00 and 17:00 - 21:00. Department stores are open non-stop from 09:00 - 21:00. Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays from 09:00 - 17:00 and 09:00 - 18:00 for Department stores.
